Child’s Pose… to rest and centre, bringing awa Child’s Pose… to rest and centre, bringing awareness within. Also a great counter pose to practice after back bending. Practice with knees together or take the wide knee variation if it is more comfortable for you.

Benefits include:
🔅Stretching: Child’s pose gently stretches your spine, thighs, hips, and ankles.
🔅Relaxation: Along with deep breathing exercises, child’s pose can calm your mind, reducing anxiety and fatigue.
🔅Blood circulation: Child’s pose can increase blood circulation to your head.
🔅Digestion: The light compression on your stomach in this pose can activate digestion.
🔅Tension relief: Child’s pose can release tension in your lower back muscles, chest, hamstrings, and shoulders.

The Law of Least Effort
This spiritual law can be thought of as the principle of allowing. No more struggling against the situation or circumstances that we find ourselves in. When we have total acceptance of the moment we can then come up with a creative response on what to do. Give up your need to struggle against the whole universe by struggling against this moment. In each situation good or bad, there is a seed of opportunity. It is important to see and accept this. @deepakchopra

Over the past week we have explored this class the Over the past week we have explored this class theme.

If you want change to happen ‘out there’ first look ‘within’. The external is a mirror of the internal. If you are angry you will see an angry world. If you are joyful, your interactions with others will be joyful.

And from another perspective, a change in overall human behaviour can be caused by the accumulation of small changes in individual behaviour. If you want to see more peace in the world, practice being more peaceful. If you want to find love, love yourself. And on a less spiritual level - if you want to see less pollution in the world, look at your own consumption patterns. If you want the world to stop posting unrealistic and superficial images on social media, be more authentic in what you post, follow, like and share.

Changing the world begins with you 🙏🏼🧡

Why do we do Cat /Cow as part of our warm up in al Why do we do Cat /Cow as part of our warm up in almost every class? 🐱🐮

Because it has so many benefits:
The alternating spinal flexion and extension action are great to improve lower back mobility, improve posture and balance, strengthen, stretch the spine and neck, stretch the hips, abdomen and back.

By marrying the movement with the breath, the pose increases coordination and fosters intentional focus. It is also associated with increased emotional balance and stability of the mind.

Sometimes we need to let go of our attachment to t Sometimes we need to let go of our attachment to the result, or end goal. Be fully immersed in the process or task at hand. If you’re going to do something do it properly, with effort and heart and attention. This will help bring a sense of enjoyment and achievement regardless of the outcome. It also allows us to have our eyes more open and to be more willing to make changes and adjustments if necessary.

You can practise this the next time you are on your mat. But this is not only for your asana practise, use this philosophy in your everyday life as well. Be more present, more open, more flexible, less attached. Enjoy the journey... 🙏🏼🕉

A little over 3 years ago my boyfriend (who is now A little over 3 years ago my boyfriend (who is now my husband) and I went to Thailand. He took this picture of me. I didn’t add it to our holiday snaps on Facebook or Insta and I didn’t share it on my yoga pages. Because I thought I looked fat and awkward. Because I wasn’t embracing my body, I was being mean to her instead of being grateful. She had given me 2 babies and 35 years of life at this stage. But all I could see was that she had lumps and bumps, wonky shoulders, balance wasn’t great, and I had a bit of a muffin top and that didn’t look ‘ideal’ so I wasn’t proud of her.

This week a friend posted about the Australian doco ‘Embrace’ on Netflix by @bodyimagemovement and I watched it and I recommend you do too. We are all different and it’s our differences that make us beautiful. Our bodies are not an ornament they are a vehicle. A vehicle for exploring, loving and challenging ourselves.

Fortunately over the past 3 years I have grown to love this healthy body and her imperfections are perfect. Her squishyness makes her more comfortable to cuddle and she is strong and always up for fun and adventure. And she’s given me another beautiful baby to love. Some days I’m still a bit mean to her and say she needs to work out more... changing my mindset is a work in progress. But I’m trying to quiet those words so they are fewer and farther between.

I think it’s so important we remember that the images we are bombarded with in the media represent a very narrow segment of the population and are often photoshopped. We need to talk more positively about our bodies, especially around our kids.

Now I look at this photo through a different lense and I share it with no reservations because I embrace her. I look at this picture and now and think I look pretty good actually 😍.

I hope you can embrace your body too. There is no one else quote like you. You are awesome! Don’t forget it. ✌🏼#NoFilter #IHaveEmbraced #OjasYogaAndMindfulness
This weeks theme ‘Do what you can - something is This weeks theme ‘Do what you can - something is better than nothing’ includes the following reading 🙏🏼💗

“To the climate change activists who aren’t attentive to fast fashion, thank you.
To the person who uses metal straws to save fish but consumes animals, I’d like to say thank you.
To the vegan who isn’t aware of our homelessness problem, thank you.
To the climate change activists who aren’t attentive to fast fashion, thank you.
To the girl who gives her old clothes to the disadvantaged but isn’t educated on sex trafficking, thank you.
To the guy who picks up rubbish on his way home from a surf but isn’t well-informed about male suicide rates, thank you.
To the people who stand up for horse racing concerns but are uninformed of the cruelty of the dairy industry, thank you.
To the positive Instagram influencer who hasn’t cultivated a plastic-free lifestyle, thank you.
To the grandparents who knit for sick children but aren’t up to date with current race and homophobic issues, thank you.
To the students that stand up for bullying but are unaware of the constant domestic violence epidemic, thank you.

To the peace activists, feminists, animal adopters, teachers, volunteers, foster carers, recyclers, givers, doers and believers, I say thank you.

We are all on a different path and we all see through different eyes.
Current world issues that you are passionate about, aren’t always what other people are trying to change… and that’s okay.

It’s not everyone’s job to save every part of the world but it is everyone’s responsibility to thank every person who is doing THEIR part to save the world.
Don’t critique, just appreciate.
Don’t judge, just educate.
We’re all trying our best.
Thank you.”
